Dana White says he is promoting Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury, no matter what Eddie Hearn claims.
Joshua and Fury are scheduled to meet on Friday, December 11, at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Hearn, Joshua’s longtime promoter, says their contract bars White and Zuffa Boxing from promoting the fight.
White was asked to clarify his role at the Zuffa Boxing 11 post-fight press conference on Saturday in London, per MMA Junkie. He did not hold back.
We’re promoting the fight right now. I’ve said 150,000 times, I don’t know if I’ve ever known anybody who’s more full of f—-ing s— than Eddie Hearn. This guy is full of f—-ing s—. I’ve been saying the same thing since way back when, and here we are.
Zuffa Boxing commentator Max Kellerman said on Saturday’s broadcast that White’s involvement was “purely in assisting” Turki Alalshikh in a “personal capacity, not as a promoter.” White was not on board with that description.
I don’t know where that came from. That was weird.
White went back and forth with the reporter and said he felt he was being set up. Asked whether he would step back to keep the fight on track, he said that was not his call. He would not say whose decision it was.
That’s not up to me. I’m involved in the f—-ing fight.
The dispute over White’s role has put the fight in doubt just days after it was announced. Fury has accused Joshua and Hearn of trying to pull out. Terence Crawford vs. Ryan Garcia has been floated as a possible replacement for the December 11 date.
