Dana White has opened the door to a new UFC title that could give the women’s divisions their own version of one of the promotion’s most controversial belts.
Speaking to reporters during a media scrum at the newly renovated Meta Apex in Las Vegas, White was asked whether the UFC would consider introducing a women’s BMF title. His response was short but telling.
Yeah, anything’s possible. Anything’s possible. Why not?” White said.
The BMF title was introduced in 2019, with Jorge Masvidal defeating Nate Diaz at UFC 244 to become the inaugural champion. The belt returned four years later when Justin Gaethje defeated Dustin Poirier at UFC 291, before Max Holloway claimed it with a spectacular knockout of Gaethje at UFC 300.
Holloway later defended the belt against Poirier before Charles Oliveira captured it in his most recent title fight.
A women’s version could also create an intriguing opportunity for former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who has previously expressed interest in returning for the right matchup.
White, however, remains firmly against adding more women’s weight classes.
The UFC currently has strawweight, flyweight, and bantamweight divisions after eliminating women’s featherweight in 2023. The UFC CEO also rejected the idea of introducing a 105-pound atomweight division.
If there was a need for it and we felt that it would work, then we would have done it already,” White said.
White also dismissed calls for a men’s 165-pound division, arguing that adding another weight class would disrupt the existing lightweight and welterweight divisions.
