ONE Friday Fights 174 returns to Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok on Friday, October 9, with Dedduanglek Torfunfarm and Lumpinee Stadium Muay Thai World Champion Mongkoldetlek Por Pim-on meeting in an all-Thai bantamweight Muay Thai main event. The show airs at 9:30 a.m. ET in the United States on beIN Sports USA and also streams on ONE’s YouTube channel and watch.onefc.com.
What’s at stake
The weekly Lumpinee series is a showcase for fighters chasing a US$100,000 contract with ONE Championship. Dedduanglek has already built a résumé on the series. Mongkoldetlek is a former contracted athlete trying to earn his way back, according to ONE’s card announcement.
The case for each fighter
Dedduanglek, 23, fights out of TDed99 and has beaten Taiki Naito in a U.S. primetime showcase, plus Wuttikrai Wor Chakrawut, Cyber Sor Tienpo and Sonrak Fairtex. ONE describes his résumé as one of the most impressive in the division on the weekly series.
Mongkoldetlek, 31, challenged future ONE World Champions Joseph Lasiri and Jonathan Haggerty earlier in his career. He arrives on a three-fight winning streak that includes a TKO of Utkirzhon Khamidov at ONE Friday Fights 163, with the third straight win coming at The Inner Circle 29 in September. The question is whether the veteran’s experience against elite names outweighs the younger man’s volume of recent work on the series.
The rest of the card
Khundet PK Saenchai meets Mexico’s Aldo Cruz in the flyweight Muay Thai co-main event. Khundet, 21, took a first-round TKO of ManU Sitjanim before a unanimous decision over Anuar Cisneros at ONE Friday Fights 148. Cruz, 24, went the distance in a split-decision loss to Buakaew Sor Sor Pakorn at ONE Friday Fights 162 and had a first-round TKO of Wan Muhammad Sabri at ONE Friday Fights 153.
Two MMA bouts also sit on the card, Denis Andreev against Waldimir Britez at bantamweight and Philemon Bitrus Jeb against Batireedui Ganbaatar at featherweight. Chabakaew Sor KanJanchai faces Yana Yip in an atomweight Muay Thai bout. Kompikart Sor Tawanrung and Tun Min Aung, Pet Sitchalongsak and Singharat Sitkhuntab, and Petubon Sor Teanchai and Eh Mwi complete the nine-fight card, along with a featherweight kickboxing bout between Omar El Morabet and Naoki Morita.
