“Destroyed” – Mauricio Ruffy Brutalizes Michael Chandler

ByThomas AlbanoMixed Martial Arts Journalist

As a number of people in the MMA community expected, Mauricio Ruffy delivered another ounce of violence in the Octagon, finishing Michael Chandler in dominant fashion at the White House at UFC Freedom 250.

Chandler looked for openings early, seeking the chance for a takedown, but he was unable to find it and unable to do any strong feinting. Ruffy stood his ground, waiting for Chandler to make a mistake. Ruffy was able to connect with single shots, including a spinning kick to the body and a strong jab.

After a pair of shots that opened him, a kick to the head appeared to hurt Chandler. An uppercut grounded Chandler, and while he was able to get back up, Ruffy connected with a strong combination. Ruffy scored a takedown, then let Chandler back up.

Ruffy continued his flurry with a head kick and follow-up shots, knocking a kneeling Chandler out cold with an uppercut.

Chandler has now lost four straight and is 2-6 since jumping to the UFC from Bellator.
