The sophomore UFC appearance of the highly touted Shanelle Dyer was a major success, as she scored a third-round finish of Elise Reed to kick off the action at UFC Sacramento.
“Two fights in the UFC, two knockouts. That’s what I do,” Dyer said in her post-fight interview. “I’m sick and tired of watching UFC Jiu-Jitsu in title fights. We want knockouts! UFC wants knockouts! Shanelle Dyer wants knockouts!”
Dyer was in control of the action from the very beginning, working Reed over with a series of leg kicks, while landing various combinations and pressuring Reed into the fence.
After hurting Reed late in round one, Dyer continued the assault in round two, overwhelming her with combinations and clinch knees. Dyer even opened a cut around one of Reed’s eyes in that round.
One more relentless, pressure-filled barrage of strikes in round three put Reed away for good, giving Dyer a TKO in her UFC debut.
After a few appearances in PFL, Dyer dropped her Dana White’s Contender Series bout against Carol Foro last year but still showed enough of a strong outing that White signed her.
Dyer made her UFC debut in March, finishing Ravena Oliveira.
