Fedor Emelianenko is tired of hearing Dana White’s version of events.
White has explained many times why the UFC never signed the heavyweight legend. He said this summer that he’s glad it never happened, given how much money the UFC had offered him. Speaking with Ushatayka, according to Bloody Elbow, Fedor said White can’t keep his story straight.
There are different kinds of businessmen, some are decent and respectful, some people don’t even need a contract. A handshake is enough to keep their word. But now, Dana is talking all sorts of nonsense.
First he wanted me then he didn’t. Then he regretted it, then he’s glad he never signed me. The man talks and always changes his story. He simply doesn’t stand by his words. His way of doing business doesn’t sit well with me. A legend? If someone thinks he’s a legend, let them.
Fedor also claimed the UFC’s timing never lined up. He said the promotion showed interest only when he was already signed elsewhere.
I was free and they didn’t sign me. It happened every time. When I’m free they aren’t interested, when I’m under contract, the offers start coming. But if you’re under contract you can’t sign another one. There would be legal proceedings.
Widely considered one of the greatest heavyweights ever, Fedor built his legend in Pride and later fought in Strikeforce and Bellator. He retired after a first-round loss to Ryan Bader at Bellator 290 in February 2023.
Now 50, he has said he isn’t ruling out a return to MMA.
