The UFC’s return to Los Angeles is quietly turning into a stacked card.
UFC 331 goes down September 19 at Crypto.com Arena, with a reported rematch between Arman Tsarukyan and Charles Oliveira for the latter’s symbolic BMF title expected to headline. Now the undercard is filling out with notable names, and the latest addition is an intriguing one: Bellator legend Patricio Pitbull against UFC Hall of Famer Doo Ho Choi.
MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz reports Pitbull returns for his fourth UFC appearance. The Brazilian great has struggled to find his footing in the promotion, going 1-2 so far. He beat Dan Ige in his debut but has since dropped fights to Aaron Pico and others, with the Pico bout leaving him with a broken orbital bone and nose.
Choi is the more dangerous puzzle than his layoff-heavy résumé suggests. Inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2022 when his 2016 war with Cub Swanson joined the Fight Wing, the South Korean has looked reborn since returning from a four-year layoff in 2023. He most recently knocked out Daniel Santos in a Fight of the Night at UFC Vegas 117 in May, and remains undefeated since his comeback.
It’s a matchup built on violence, which makes it a natural fit for a card headlined by a BMF title. The rest of the UFC 331 lineup is also taking shape, with a rescheduled Renato Moicano vs. Brian Ortega lightweight bout reported to be in the works.
