Josh Hokit scored another finish in the Octagon and may be on his way to a title shot, finishing Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250.
Both men flashed their power early, with Hokit looking for single straight shots and Lewis staying back, waiting for Hokit to make a mistake. Hokit went for a high kick but slipped, nearly prompting Lewis to jump on him.
Hokit scored a takedown, and Lewis had no answer from there. Hokit proceeded to lay in a number of shots over the couple of minutes, busting Lewis open. Hokit went for an armbar in the last 30 seconds, but Lewis somehow survived the round.
While Lewis was able to hold off Hokit’s takedown attempts early in round two, his striking proved to be too much. Hokit wore Lewis down with a mix of single shots and combinations, eventually making Lewis collapse in round two for the TKO win.
Following the fight, Hokit called out Alex Pereira for a matchup, presuming Pereira gets through Gane for the interim heavyweight title later tonight.
