Michael “Venom” Page has signed with Misfits Boxing, announcing the deal in the ring Saturday night in London, five weeks after the UFC decided not to re-sign him.
“I feel free,” the 39-year-old told the crowd, according to Uncrowned. He thanked KSI and Misfits co-founder Mams Taylor and said he wants “all the smoke.” KSI said in a statement that “everyone wanted him.”
What the deal covers
Uncrowned’s Ariel Helwani reported that the deal is exclusive but still lets Page compete in wrestling and grappling matches elsewhere. Neither Page nor KSI said whether he’ll box, fight MMA or both for Misfits. Financial terms weren’t disclosed, and no opponent or date has been announced.
Page is 26-3 in MMA and 2-0 as a pro boxer, both wins by knockout. He also dropped a bare knuckle decision to Mike Perry.
How the UFC run ended
Page finished 5-1 in the UFC, with all six fights going the distance. His last was a decision win over Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC Paris on September 5, the final bout on his contract.
Dana White confirmed the matchmakers didn’t want to re-sign him. Page later said the way the UFC handled it was disrespectful.
Jake Paul pitched him publicly after the release, writing that it was time to “bring MVP to MVP.” Page chose the Misfits stage instead.
