Coming into the fight with near-impossible odds against him, Sean Sharaf proved that sometimes odds are just numbers.
In what will go down as the third-quickest finish in UFC heavyweight history, and one of the sport’s biggest upsets, Sharaf knocked out heavy favorite Gable Steveson.
Steveson came into this fight as a heavy favorite on the sportsbooks, with odds ranging from -1800 to -2500. Sharaf, meanwhile, was an underdog whose odds ranged from +900 to +1040.
After Steveson landed one low kick, Sharaf landed a wild left hook that landed and dropped Steveson out cold.
Steveson was able to get up after the fight and left the Octagon as Sharaf’s hand was raised, to some boos from the LA crowd.
Sharaf is now 5-2 in MMA and gains his first UFC victory. He entered this fight 0-2 in the Octagon after suffering losses to Junior Tafa and Steven Asplund.
