Magomed Ankalaev isn’t letting the Alex Pereira thing go.
The former light heavyweight champion returns this weekend against Bogdan Guskov, looking to get back on track after Pereira took the title back from him in their UFC 320 rematch. Ankalaev has made clear that a third fight with Poatan is still the goal, wherever it has to happen.
I will be chasing that fight, no matter if it takes place at heavyweight or light heavyweight. Although he moved up, so I’m not just focusing on him as I have some business to finish in the light heavyweight division.
He believes the series demands a decider, and he isn’t conceding much about the loss.
But at the end of the day, as long as he’s not retired, I’m sure the UFC would be interested. We are 1-1. I won the first fight, and it’s fair to say it was domination. I lost the second one, but it was just an accident. So, I think the third fight should be very exciting for the fans. Time will tell.

Making it happen is the hard part. Pereira vacated the 205-pound title to chase history as the first three-division champion and is now campaigning at heavyweight, leaving no obvious path back to Ankalaev in the near term.
