Fight week has delivered an unexpected twist for UFC 330, with the Philadelphia card forced into a late change just days before the promotion returns to the city.
The event takes place Saturday, Aug. 15, at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia, with Islam Makhachev defending his UFC welterweight championship against Ian Machado Garry in the main event. The co-main event will feature Mackenzie Dern making her first defense of the UFC strawweight title against Gillian Robertson.
The card has now lost one of its scheduled matchups following an injury, but the UFC appears to have found a way to keep the affected bout alive.
Jose Ochoa has been forced out of his scheduled flyweight matchup against Charles Johnson due to an undisclosed injury. Rather than removing Johnson from the card entirely, former LFA flyweight champion Eduardo Henrique has stepped in to face him on short notice.
Johnson, 35, has compiled a 19-9 professional record and joined the UFC in 2022. He put together a four-fight winning streak during 2024, including a notable knockout victory over current UFC flyweight champion Joshua Van at UFC Denver.
The veteran has also collected wins over Azat Maksum and Lone’er Kavanagh, the latter coming via knockout at UFC Shanghai. Johnson most recently suffered a submission loss to Asu Almabayev in June.
Henrique, meanwhile, enters the matchup with a 15-2 professional record and plenty of recent UFC exposure. The 30-year-old previously competed on Season 33 of The Ultimate Fighter before appearing on Dana White’s Contender Series, where he defeated An Tuan Ho by unanimous decision.
