Cejudo Adds A Third Combat Sport Against Walton

Henry Cejudo steps out of the Octagon and into the ring Saturday, September 26, making his professional boxing debut against Javon Walton at 6:00pm ET. The Misfits Boxing card runs from the James L. Knight Center in Miami and streams on DAZN.

Cejudo, a two-division UFC champion, is adding a third combat sport at 39. He was originally booked against Deen The Great, who withdrew injured two weeks out, before Javon Walton stepped in as a late replacement. Walton, the 20-year-old actor known for playing Ashtray on HBO’s Euphoria, enters with an actual boxing record: 3-0-1 with one knockout, most recently a decision win over Anthony Mora last September.

What’s At Stake

  • The MMA angle: How Cejudo looks against an opponent with real boxing rounds will shape the conversation about whether he still has a run left in MMA.
  • The experience gap: Cejudo has zero professional boxing rounds. Walton has four fights already, giving him the in-ring experience edge regardless of Cejudo’s broader combat sports resume.
  • The replacement factor: Facing Walton instead of the originally booked Deen The Great changes the game plan Cejudo has to bring on short notice.
