Who Is UFC 334 Backup Fighter For Kayla Harrison vs Amanda Nunes?

UFC 334 will feature Joselyne Edwards as the backup fighter for the Kayla Harrison vs. Amanda Nunes title fight, ready to step in if either fighter withdraws.

Joselyne Edwards will be on standby for one of the most anticipated championship fights on the UFC calendar, with the bantamweight contender set to serve as the alternate for Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes at UFC 334.

MMA Fighting reported that Edwards will weigh in as the designated backup for the women’s 135-pound title fight on November 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York. The event will stream on Paramount+, with the championship bout serving as the co-main event.

Edwards Earns Backup Role After Five Consecutive Wins

“La Pantera” has put herself in contention for bigger opportunities through an impressive stretch of performances inside the Octagon. The Panamanian fighter has won five consecutive UFC bouts since late 2024, with four of those victories coming by stoppage.

Edwards’ recent run includes finishes against Tamires Vidal, Chelsea Chandler, Priscila Cachoeira, and Nora Cornolle. Edwards most recently faced Norma Dumont at UFC Vegas 116 in April, earning a unanimous decision victory to extend her winning streak.

The 31-year-old holds an 18-6 professional record, including a 9-4 mark in the UFC.

Harrison and Nunes were initially expected to meet at UFC 324 in January. However, the matchup was postponed after the reigning champion required surgery for a neck injury, forcing the promotion to push the highly anticipated contest back by several months.

Nunes, a former two-division UFC champion, chose to wait for Harrison’s recovery rather than pursue an interim championship fight against another opponent. The decision preserved the opportunity for the pair to settle their rivalry inside the Octagon.
