The son of a UFC legend has suffered a harsh reality check in his early MMA career after getting stopped by a vicious second-round knockout.
Callum Bisping, the 25-year-old son of UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping, faced John McCain at SUNDOWN 2 in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday. The pair competed for the promotion’s amateur catchweight championship at 235 pounds, but the contest ended in disappointment for the rising prospect.
McCain shut down a takedown attempt before trapping Bisping against the cage and unloading a series of punches. A heavy right hand followed by a combination to the head sent Bisping to the canvas, prompting the referee to step in and halt the contest at 1:06 of the second round.

The knockout marked the first defeat of Bisping’s amateur career, dropping his record to 2-1.
Michael Bisping’s Son Suffers First MMA Defeat
Callum began his journey in the sport in December with a unanimous decision victory before building momentum in April with a first-round TKO that lasted just 69 seconds. His third appearance, however, ended with McCain handing him his first loss.
Footage of the finish has since circulated online, showing McCain capitalize on the failed takedown and overwhelm Bisping with strikes along the fence.
Michael Bisping has previously explained that he largely keeps his distance from his son’s MMA career to avoid placing additional attention on him because of his own standing in the sport. On the same night Callum competed in Los Angeles, the former UFC middleweight champion was working as a cageside commentator for UFC Vegas 122 in Las Vegas.
