Over four years since their encounter in the UFC, Khamzat Chimaev made a bigger statement against Gilbert Burns, scoring a technical fall in the second period of their RAF 13 co-main event bout.
Chimaev quickly found a push-out for one point before adding two points after a sprawl and getting to Burns’ back, as well as another two points for exposure. Burns picked up a couple of points himself with a takedown, but Chimaev got right back up and scored a takedown.
Chimaev scored another takedown and a gut-wrench before the end of the round, making it 11-2 by the period’s end.
Chimaev looked to end things quickly in the second period, but a reversal by Burns earned “Durinho” two more points. Chimaev, however, scored a big takedown, getting Burns to his back, gaining four more points and the tech fall.
Chimaev is now 3-0 in the RAF. He competed just two weeks ago at RAF Moscow, defeating Tyron Woodley. Chimaev called out Colby Covington in his post-fight interview.
Chimaev has not fought in UFC since his UFC 328 middleweight title loss to Sean Strickland.
Chimaev and Burns faced off in the UFC at UFC 273 in April 2022, with Chimaev earning a decision win.
