Cris Cyborg Leaks Possible Date and Location for Harrison vs. Nunes UFC Title Fight

ByAndrew RavensMixed Martial Arts Journalist

Cris Cyborg says she has heard that Amanda Nunes vs. Kayla Harrison is being planned for September in Los Angeles, potentially revealing the rescheduled date and location for one of women’s MMA’s most anticipated fights.

Cyborg made the comments at the PFL Summer Series media day, via Dylan Bowker.

I hear. I don’t know where I hear, but they say maybe they’re going to fight in September, Amanda and Kayla, in LA. I’m not sure if I know right, but some gossip. But I know Kayla did a surgery and she was recovering. I know I’m going to be waiting for this fight. I’m excited to see this fight.

Harrison vs. Nunes was originally booked as the first undisputed title fight of 2026 before Harrison withdrew with a neck injury less than two weeks before the event. Nunes declined an interim title fight following the withdrawal, choosing to wait for Harrison to recover. Harrison was back in training a couple of months after her January surgery, though an official return date has not been confirmed.

Harrison submitted Julianna Pena to become UFC bantamweight champion in June 2025. Nunes, a two-time champion who retired in 2023, announced her return after Harrison won the belt. The UFC’s next major numbered event after UFC 330 in August has not yet been formally announced.
