Daniel Cormier says there is nothing like a Conor McGregor fight week and that every time McGregor is involved, the sport simply gets bigger and better.
Cormier spoke during UFC Freedom 250 media day in Washington on Wednesday, with the conversation turning to McGregor’s July 11 return against Max Holloway at UFC 329.
It’s going to be a tremendous fight. I think that we now get to see two guys that are adults. The first time they fought, they were children. Max was a kid, Conor was a kid. These guys are going to be grown men fighting in what will be — it’s hard to think that an event will get bigger after this, but every time Conor McGregor is here, it’s bigger and it’s better. The sport’s better with this man in the fight game.
Dana White said separately that he expects McGregor’s return at UFC 329 to break the promotion’s gate record, which UFC 306 at the Sphere currently holds at almost $22 million.
An official UFC 329 poster was also released Friday. The updated card is as follows: Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway; Benoit Saint Denis vs. Paddy Pimblett; Cory Sandhagen vs. Mario Bautista; Brandon Royval vs. Lone’er Kavanagh; Gable Steveson vs. Elisha Ellison; Robert Whittaker vs. Nikita Krylov; Cody Garbrandt vs. Adrian Yanez; Tracy Cortez vs. Wang Cong; Damian Pinas vs. Cesar Almeida; Luke Riley vs. Kai Kamaka III; Ryan Gandra vs. Zachary Reese; Ode Osbourne vs. Cody Durden; King Green vs. Terrance McKinney.
