Gamebred FC has added two lightweight MMA bouts to its December 11 card in Miami, with UFC veterans Kurt Holobaugh and Luis Pena set to meet and Brandon Girtz booked against Landon Quinones. Jorge Masvidal announced the fights in an interview with Jake Noecker of Home of Fight, published October 8.
Holobaugh is 2-0 in Gamebred and faces Pena, who is 1-0 in the promotion and fights under the nickname Violent Bob Ross. Girtz is also 2-0 in Gamebred and meets Quinones, who is 1-1. According to the matchup announcement, Holobaugh, Pena and Quinones are all UFC veterans, while Girtz has fought in both Bellator and BKFC.
What each fighter brings
Holobaugh won The Ultimate Fighter 31 lightweight final with a second-round triangle choke of Austin Hubbard at UFC 292 in August 2023. He submitted Lamar Brown with a guillotine choke at Gamebred Bareknuckle MMA 10 in Miami on May 1, and Girtz beat John Macapa by split decision on the same card.
Pena is the notable name on the comeback trail. He left his gloves in the cage to announce his retirement after a November 2024 submission loss to Zach DiSabatino at Cage Titans, and he now has a win in Gamebred.
Gamebred events stream on DAZN under the global broadcast deal Masvidal announced in August. The promotion’s most recent card ended with Anthony Smith stopped in round two by Jordan Heiderman in Santo Domingo.
The interview also covers Sean Strickland’s UFC pay dispute, safety in bareknuckle versus MMA, and the possibility of a Masvidal return, according to its chapter list.
