Kamaru Usman is picking the champion at UFC 334.
Ciryl Gane defends the heavyweight title against Josh Hokit at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 14. On the Pound 4 Pound podcast with Henry Cejudo, Usman said Gane brings something heavyweight has never seen.
Honestly, I don’t think we’ve ever seen a heavyweight ever as dynamic as Ciryl Gane. We’ve never seen that. We’ve never seen a heavyweight that could float around the octagon like that, switch stance, kick, elbow, knee, do it all and still be able to have a submission threat.
I just think Ciryl Gane is the most dynamic heavyweight we’ve ever seen. Listen, as far as power, Francis Ngannou is probably the most dangerous heavyweight we’ve ever seen. And then you’ve got other guys that have been great champions. Cain Velasquez was an amazing heavyweight.
Usman gave Hokit credit for his rise, and for his lifestyle.
I just think the experience, how Ciryl Gane is fighting right now, I don’t see Josh Hokit getting it done. But I believe Josh Hokit is a guy that understands how to get there, and he’s racking up the bread.
Did you see him do the little MTV Cribs edition that he did? He showed his gym. He got his home gym, he got a pool. He said, ‘Nobody doing it like me,’ and I think that was his Lambo he was sporting right there. He’s rocking the Lambo, too. So my man, what you didn’t get in the NFL, guess what? You are getting it right now. So more power to him, but I just believe Ciryl Gane gets it done.
Not every former champ agrees. Chris Weidman has picked Hokit to pull off the upset.
