Otari Tanzilovi impressed with his striking while adding to the continued skid of Malcolm Wellmaker, coming away with a finish in the opening bout of the UFC Vegas 122 main card.
Tanzilovi controlled much of the opening round with his combinations, aided by his wrestling. Wellmaker had his moments, including one punch that appeared to briefly wobble Tanzilovi, but he seemed to take control back by the round’s end.
Wellmaker had control again in the second round thanks to his body work, but a quick head kick landed flush, dropping Wellmaker. Tanzilovi followed it up with some punches before the referee stopped the fight.
This was Tanzilovi’s first UFC win. He made his Octagon debut in June, dropping a decision to Shane Collins.
