Quillan Salkilld is set for a major milestone in his UFC career, with the surging Australian lightweight booked to headline an event on home soil against one of the division’s most dangerous finishers, Benoit Saint Denis.

The UFC announced on Tuesday that the two lightweights will meet in the five-round main event of UFC Sydney on February 6, 2027. The event will take place at the Afterpay Arena in Sydney, Australia. No other fights have been announced for the card so far.

Salkilld has rapidly climbed the lightweight rankings since earning his UFC contract through Dana White’s Contender Series in 2024. The 13-1 prospect has gone unbeaten across six Octagon appearances, collecting five stoppage victories and five Performance of the Night bonuses along the way.

Salkilld had previously expressed interest in fighting Saint Denis at Madison Square Garden in New York. Although that matchup did not materialize at the venue he initially targeted, he will now get the showdown he wanted in front of his home crowd.

Saint Denis, meanwhile, enters the contest looking to rebuild momentum after a damaging setback against Paddy Pimblett at UFC 329 in July. The Frenchman suffered a submission loss in the fight, snapping a four-fight winning streak that had pushed him closer to the lightweight title picture.

Despite the recent defeat, “God of War” remains a formidable opponent for the rising Australian. The 17-4 fighter has established a reputation for aggressive performances and decisive finishes, recording notable victories over Dan Hooker, Beneil Dariush, Mauricio Ruffy, and Kyle Prepolec.
