Raoni Barcelos has been released from the hospital.
The Brazilian posted a photo with his family on his Instagram story late Tuesday night, sharing that he had been discharged. He had earlier posted a video from the hospital in which he was alert and speaking.
Barcelos lost consciousness during a takedown by Raul Rosas Jr. in the fifth round of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night main event at Meta APEX in Las Vegas. He was taken out of the Octagon on a stretcher and sent to a trauma center. He was ahead on all three judges’ scorecards at the time.
There is still no public word on what caused Barcelos to lose consciousness.
Dana White, who was not at the event, addressed the situation for the first time after Tuesday’s Dana White’s Contender Series.
Thank God, he’s doing well. He’s doing well. He’s up walking around, talking.
White said the UFC followed every step it should have.
It goes right in line with everything I always talk about and what we do. All the pre-fight medicals were triple-checked, everything was good. There were six doctors here that night, three ambulances, he was taken straight to the trauma center. Everything was done the right way and the outcome was good.
Barcelos has said he plans to return to training and fighting. White is not thinking about that yet.
Not even thinking about that. Who gives a s—? As long as the kid is OK.
Barcelos, 39, is 22-6 in MMA and 11-4 in the UFC.
