Sean Strickland is shaken up but says he is fine after a vehicle he was riding in rolled roughly six times at around 60 mph. The UFC middleweight champion posted video of the aftermath on Instagram Tuesday, showing scrapes across his head and shoulder.
“Guys, I’m in a real bad place,” Strickland said in the video. “I let my buddy drive, he rolled us going like 60, we rolled like six times.” Pointing to a gash on his head, he added, “That was from my head smacking the ground, going 60. Did not have a helmet on. I’m an idiot.”
In a follow-up post, Strickland said he is “a little concussed but good” and plans to spar the next day. He said the friend who was driving briefly lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital, but that he believes his friend will be alright.
Strickland called the crash “the most fun I’ve had in a very, very long time” and said sponsor Rainbet had offered to cover the damages. It is not the first time he has walked away from a serious crash. A 2018 accident tore his patella tendon and kept him out of action for close to two years.
