A fight-week withdrawal has forced the UFC to scramble, but Marcus McGhee will still compete at UFC 332 with a completely new challenge waiting for him.

McGhee was originally scheduled to face Bernardo Sopaj in a bantamweight bout on Saturday at Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

Sopaj has now withdrawn due to injury, opening the door for promotional newcomer Anthony Romero to step in on just three days’ notice. The replacement matchup will take place at featherweight.

Anthony Romero Steps In On Three Days’ Notice At UFC 332

Romero will receive a difficult introduction to the Octagon against the No. 15-ranked McGhee, who owns an 11-2 professional record and has won five of his six UFC appearances.

“The Maniac” returned to the win column in June with a unanimous decision victory over John Yannis. His only UFC defeat came against current bantamweight champion Petr Yan.

Romero enters his UFC debut with a 7-2 record and plenty of momentum. The 26-year-old has won two straight fights and most recently defended his UNF bantamweight title by knocking out Yuma Horiuchi in just 25 seconds.

The Black House MMA product has finished six of his seven professional victories, recording four knockouts and two submissions.

Romero now has only three days to prepare for the biggest opportunity of his career as he attempts to upset a ranked UFC contender in his promotional debut.
