Conor McGregor appears to have found an unexpected reason to raise a pint again, and Brad Pitt is apparently to blame.

The former UFC two-division champion has revealed that he has decided to return to drinking after learning that the Hollywood superstar recently ended his seven-year period of sobriety.

McGregor had previously committed to staying away from alcohol and other stimulants while preparing for his long-awaited return against Max Holloway at UFC 329. That comeback lasted just 69 seconds after McGregor suffered a serious knee injury and was forced out of the fight.

“The Notorious” subsequently underwent surgery to repair a torn ACL and meniscus and had indicated that he planned to remain sober during his recovery.

That plan has now seemingly changed.

Pitt recently revealed in an interview with Esquire that he had resumed drinking in a more restrained manner after years of sobriety. The actor acknowledged that the transition has not been entirely straightforward but said he was learning to keep his alcohol consumption under control.

McGregor apparently took notice and decided to follow suit.

I have decided to have a few pints of ‘The World’s Creamiest Stout @forgedirishstout’ in support of my fellow actor, Brad Pitt!” McGregor wrote on social media.

“The Notorious” then directly addressed Pitt, adding, “Take it easy, Brad!”

The Irishman also pointed out that his Forged Irish Stout contains 4.2% alcohol, describing it as a “sociable and friendly delicious beverage” before encouraging people to enjoy it safely.

McGregor’s relationship with alcohol has been well-documented over the years. The former UFC champion previously said he was not much of a drinker before his whiskey business helped change his habits, eventually leading him to announce that he was done drinking.
