The first-ever all-French matchup in UFC history ended with a bang, as Axel Sola landed a quick left that resulted in a first-round knockout of Fares Ziam in the UFC Paris co-main event.
Ziam came into the fight with a kick-based offense while Sola looked to counterstrike, picking his shots. Ziam threw a body kick, and Sola, despite eating an elbow, responded with a left hand that dropped Ziam out cold.
Ziam was unconscious on the mat for about a minute before showing responsiveness.
Sola now moves to 13-1-1 in his professional MMA career, including a 3-1 UFC record. Sola, the former ARES FC champion, also has wins over Ismael Bonfim and Rhys McKee, and his sole loss came against Mason Jones.
