Dana White Opens Door To Alexander Volkanovski vs. Justin Gaethje

UFC CEO Dana White reveals he is open to Alexander Volkanovski vs. Justin Gaethje, responding to the UFC featherweight champion's potential superfight idea.

Dana White appears open to an unusual champion-versus-champion showdown involving Alexander Volkanovski and Justin Gaethje, should the featherweight king decide he wants to pursue the matchup before retiring.

Volkanovski recently floated the idea of facing the reigning lightweight champion in what could be a final blockbuster fight for both men.

Although neither fighter has confirmed plans to retire, the UFC CEO’s response suggests the promotion would be willing to consider the matchup if Volkanovski genuinely wants to make it happen.

Dana White Responds To Alexander Volkanovski’s Superfight Idea

Speaking to Main Event, White expressed confidence that the UFC would support the Australian champion’s wishes at this stage of his career.

When a guy gets to his level, there isn’t too many things we’d say ‘no’ to him about. If he’s got things he wants to do before he hangs it up, I’m sure we’ll be very supportive,” White said.

Volkanovski, 38, has built an impressive legacy in the UFC and remains the reigning featherweight champion. He has previously moved up to lightweight to challenge Islam Makhachev for the division’s title on two occasions, losing both encounters.

“The Great” has made it clear that retirement is not currently on his agenda. However, he has entertained the possibility of one final champ-vs-champ contest against “The Highlight” before the two veterans eventually call time on their careers.

Before any discussion of a potential superfight can advance, Volkanovski has a major challenge ahead of him. He is scheduled to defend his featherweight championship against undefeated contender Movsar Evloev in the main event of UFC 333 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi.
