Approaching 40, Tim Elliott continues to find wins in the Octagon, scoring a decision victory over Edgar Chairez in the featured prelim.
Chairez troubled Elliott in the opening seconds, wobbling the veteran with a quick right hand, then following it up with combinations. Elliott, however, got back into control with an overhand left that rocked Chairez. Elliott then scored a takedown and controlled the action on the ground.
Elliott continued to find takedowns in round two, finding success with his positioning and landing strikes from the top. Chairez tried for an armbar from the bottom, but Elliott made his way with more strikes, busting up Chairez’s face.
Chairez worked over Elliott’s leg with kicks to start round three before countering a takedown attempt with a guillotine. Chairez found success with his strikes in this round, but Elliott held on and found a takedown in the bout’s final minute, going on to earn the unanimous decision.
Elliott has now won three of his last five and bounces back from his May loss to Steve Erceg.
