Kody Steele Puts Hands on Display in First-Round Finish

Kody Steele got the first-round finish he was looking for at UFC 333, putting Noah Gugnon out with a right hand after needing to bounce back from a slow start.

Kody Steele was looking for another finish in his prelim bout with Noah Gugnon at UFC 333, and he found one emphatically.

Steele looked to take this fight to the ground almost right away, pressuring Gugnon with takedown attempts. Gugnon shook those off, however, and appeared to hurt Steele with a knee and follow-up punches. About halfway through the round, Steele answered with a couple of solid one-twos before scoring a brief takedown.

Gugnon got back to the feet quickly, but it didn’t take much longer for Steele to score the finish. Steele pressed and landed a quick right hand over the top, dropping Gugnon and putting him out for the win.

Steele now improves to 9-1 in MMA. He’s now won back-to-back fights in the Octagon via a first-round finish after dropping his UFC debut.
