One of combat sports’ most anticipated grudge matches is finally becoming a reality.

Mike Perry and Dillon Danis are set to clash in a welterweight mixed martial arts bout on Aug. 29, headlining the inaugural Duel Arena 1 event at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida. Multiple reports have confirmed the matchup, which will take place inside a ring rather than a cage as part of a hybrid card featuring MMA, boxing, and kickboxing.

The matchup brings together two of the sport’s biggest personalities after years of trash talk and fan speculation. It also marks Perry’s second consecutive MMA appearance following his successful return to the sport earlier this year.

After establishing himself as BKFC’s “King of Violence” with an unbeaten 6-0 run in bare-knuckle boxing, “Platinum” stepped back into MMA in May and dominated Nate Diaz en route to a second-round corner stoppage at the Netflix-backed Rousey vs. Carano event. The victory proved Perry’s striking-heavy style remains just as dangerous under mixed martial arts rules.

Danis, meanwhile, has competed sparingly in MMA since 2019 but returned in emphatic fashion last August, submitting Warren Spencer in just 15 seconds to capture the Misfits light heavyweight title. Since then, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist has also made appearances in Real American Freestyle, suffering losses to Colby Covington and Khamzat Chimaev, with the latter contest ending in a post-match brawl.

Duel Arena officials have also teased additional UFC veterans and influencer matchups for the event, while broadcast details are expected to be announced in the coming days.
