Misfits Boxing has put a staggering $20 million on the table to get Dana White and Eddie Hearn to settle their bitter rivalry inside the ring, but UFC star Paddy Pimblett believes the entire idea is ridiculous.
Kalle Sauerland, who heads Misfits Boxing, has proposed a winner-takes-all showdown between the UFC CEO and the Matchroom Boxing chief. The offer comes after months of public jabs and heated exchanges between the two promoters, whose feud has increasingly become part of the buildup to the upcoming Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua clash, set for Dec. 11.
Sauerland wants the pair to put their differences aside and finally make the grudge match happen. His proposed contest would run for six two-minute rounds, with the entire $20 million prize pool going to the winner.
Paddy Pimblett Calls Dana White vs. Eddie Hearn Fight Talk ‘Stupid’
Pimblett has little patience for the idea of White and Hearn trading punches rather than insults. Speaking to All Out Fighting, the Liverpool native suggested Hearn might have the edge if the two actually fought, but questioned whether the matchup would ever materialize.
I think he would, personally, yeah,” Pimblett said when asked if Hearn would beat White in a fight. “I think he would, but people say all this and that, but they’re never going to fight, so it’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard in my life. As if Dana White’s going to have a fight with Eddie Hearn. It’s like the daftest thing I’ve ever heard.
“The Baddy” also appears tired of the ongoing verbal sparring, which has threatened to overshadow the boxing spectacle both men have been discussing. White has pushed his involvement in promoting Fury vs. Joshua, while Hearn has challenged the extent of his role, citing contractual restrictions involving Joshua.
Pimblett sees little value in the pair continuing to trade barbs, regardless of whether Misfits Boxing can turn their rivalry into a lucrative attraction.
It’s just stupid,” Pimblett said. “It’s just very childish, isn’t it? But they’re going to keep going back and forth, so we need to get used to it.
