PFL Africa makes its first stop in North Africa on Saturday, October 10, when the promotion’s continental tournament reaches its semifinal round at the Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca. Senegal’s Abdoulaye Kane headlines against Morocco’s Badr Medkouri in a heavyweight showcase, with six semifinal bouts across three divisions filling out the rest of the 13-fight card.
Kane And Medkouri Headline A Historic Night For Morocco
Kane (5-2) enters on the back of a first-round TKO loss to Justin Clarke at PFL Africa: Pretoria in April, the only real blemish disrupting an otherwise finish-heavy resume built on four knockouts and a submission. Medkouri (9-3) fights in front of a home crowd for the first time in the promotion, carrying eight knockouts across his nine career wins.
PFL general manager Elias Schulze framed the trip as part of a broader continental rollout. “We’re looking to go to all four corners of the continent,” Schulze said when the matchups were announced in August.
Semifinal Fields Narrow In Three Divisions
The co-main event pits unbeaten bantamweight Karim Henniene (7-0) against Nigeria’s Raphael Uchegbu (11-2), with the winner advancing to the PFL Africa Finals later this year. Henniene is coming off a first-round submission at PFL Africa: Nigeria in June, while Uchegbu announced himself on the same card with a unanimous decision win.
The other bantamweight semifinal opens the main card, with Liberia’s Dwight Joseph (16-3) facing Angola’s Boule Godogo (5-2). Welterweight sees two semifinals on tap: Angola’s Shido Boris Esperança (12-2) against South Africa’s Peace Nguphane (9-3), and Guinea-Bissau’s Rivaldo Pereira (4-2) against Nigeria’s David Samuel (6-0). The lightweight bracket narrows with an all-Nigerian matchup between Patrick Ocheme (9-1) and Cornel Thompson (12-3), plus Senegal’s Demba Seck (11-3) against Chad’s Hussain Al Kurdi (3-0).
Fighters from nine African nations are represented across the semifinal round, continuing PFL Africa’s pan-continental tournament format that began with events in Pretoria and Lagos earlier this year.
