Dana White is putting an extra $50,000 on the table at UFC 331, and the UFC CEO alone will decide who takes it home.
White announced the one-night-only “Proper Chaos Bonus” in a video posted to social media on Monday, tying the payout to the second season of the Paramount+ crime drama MobLand. He offered no criteria for the award beyond saying the money goes to whichever fighter he believes deserves it most.
“Long before I did a deal with Paramount, I’ve been telling you guys I’m a huge fan of MobLand. It is one of the best shows on television,” White said. “Season two premieres this Friday on Paramount+, the night before UFC 331 in LA. So for one night only, we’re bringing a little proper chaos into the Octagon. At UFC 331, we are unlocking the proper chaos bonus. $50,000 awarded to the fighter who I think deserves it most.”
How The Chaos Money Fits The UFC Bonus System
The award sits outside the bonus structure the UFC introduced in January at UFC 324, its first event under the $7.7 billion Paramount deal. That system pays $100,000 to both fighters in the Fight of the Night and to two Performance of the Night winners, plus $25,000 to any fighter who scores a finish but misses the big four. It’s the same setup that paid out at Noche UFC 4 last weekend.
Those bonuses don’t all stack. Ariel Helwani reported on X in April that a fighter who earns Performance of the Night with a finish collects $100,000, not $125,000. White hasn’t said whether the Proper Chaos Bonus follows that rule or lands on top of everything else.
UFC 331 Card And MobLand Crossover
UFC 331 takes place Saturday, September 19, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with the main card streaming on Paramount+ at 9 p.m. ET. Joshua Van (c) defends the UFC Flyweight Championship against Alexandre Pantoja in a rematch of their UFC 323 meeting last December, which ended after 26 seconds when Pantoja injured his arm.
Arman Tsarukyan meets Mauricio Ruffy in a five-round lightweight co-main event. Tsarukyan, who is also booked to face Dillon Danis at RAF 14 on October 3, has his own MobLand link. Hype Fighting CEO Armand Martirosyan revealed in January that he offered the show’s star, Tom Hardy, a grappling match against Tsarukyan, and Hardy turned it down because of filming commitments.
The card has already taken one hit this week, with Brian Ortega forced out of his lightweight debut against Renato Moicano through injury.
