Lucia Szabova’s UFC debut went as well as it could, as she remained undefeated and finished Tainara Lisboa in the UFC Vegas 123 opening prelim bout.
Szabova brought the pressure from the beginning, working combinations to start before bringing Lisboa to the ground. She continuously brought Lisboa to the mat, being fairly dominant with the exception of a late choke threat from Lisboa.
Things only got worse for Lisboa in the second round, as Szabova brought her back down and dominated with plenty of ground-and-pound and submission attempts. This pattern continued into the third, with Szabova eventually able to flatten out Lisboa and force the ref to step in.
This was Szabova’s UFC debut following her run in Oktagon, starting her career there in 2019 before departing for the UFC earlier this year. Szabova was a double champ in that promotion, winning their women’s bantamweight championship last year and their women’s flyweight championship earlier this year.
