Taking this fight on two days’ notice, and just 11 days after winning a UFC contract, Luis Hernandez emphatically showcased his arrival to the UFC with a sub-minute submission win over Sedriques Dumas at UFC Vegas 121.
“The bosses called me, a day-and-a-half notice,” Hernandez said. “I need a bonus!”
Hernandez then called for another fight before the year ends, looking to compete at welterweight and to have three fights in three months. “If Kevin Holland can do it, why not me?” he said.
Hernandez came forward right from the get-go, and he clobbered Dumas with an overhand about 30 seconds into the bout. A clinch followed, and Hernandez brought Dumas to the ground and into top control.
Hernandez then locked up a guillotine as Dumas looked to get to his feet, and that scored the law enforcement officer the submission win.
Hernandez now improves to 9-0. He fought just 11 days ago on Dana White’s Contender Series, finishing Hugo Guillon at 1:01 of Round 2.
