Montel Jackson found the taste of revenge to be sweet, as he avenged a previous loss with a win over Ricky Simon during the UFC Vegas 121 prelims.
Both men had their moments in the opening frame. Jackson’s shots were landing cleaner and more frequently, while Simon worked Jackson over well with body and leg kicks. Jackson took complete control by dropping Simon with a left hand late in round one, but Simon managed to grapple well and end the round on top.
Jackson, however, got right back to work in round two, repeatedly working his combinations on Simon. One combination in particular cracked and dropped Simon, with a couple of follow-up shots finishing the fight.
This was a rematch from UFC 227 in 2018, where Simon got a win over Jackson, who was making his UFC debut at the time.
Jackson now improves to 16-4, bouncing back from a pair of decision losses to Raoni Barcelos and Deiveson Figueiredo.
